We offer midwifery care during pregnancy, labor, birth, and beyond.  We believe that childbirth is a natural process, and that for healthy women, the best place to give birth is in the comfort of your own home, surrounded by those you love.  We will help you create a space where you feel safe, supported, and able to access your inner instincts, allowing you to birth naturally…a Haven at Home.

Bringing a child into the world is a uniquely powerful and transformative event.  As Certified Nurse-Midwives, Callandra Clark, RN, CNM, MSN, also known as Callie, and Kerín Asher-Galloway, RN, BSN, CNM, MSN  are here to support you and your family in your decision to birth at home.  Callie and Kerin have attended over one thousand births and have 13 years of combined experience.

Homebirth offers many advantages, including:

  1. -Safety equal to that of hospital birth, as demonstrated by scientific research

  2. -Avoidance of unnecessary interventions, such as strict time limits, an IV, or separation from your baby

  3. -Freedom of movement throughout labor

  4. -Giving birth in the position most comfortable for you

  5. -Feeling comfortable to express yourself freely

  6. -The presence of your partner, children, or other support persons if you desire

  7. -Eating and drinking throughout labor

  8. -Allowing labor to begin spontaneously, in its own time

  9. -The skilled care of a nurse-midwife who is there to support you physically, emotionally, and spiritually

  10. -Decreased risk of infection and operative birth

Our Philosophy

We believe at Haven at Home that every individual has the right to safe, satisfying health care with respect for human dignity and cultural variations.  We support each person’s right to self-determination, to complete information, and to actively participate in all aspects of care.  We believe that the normal processes of pregnancy and birth can be enhanced through education, health care, and supportive intervention.

Nurse-midwifery care is focused on the needs of the individual and family for physical care, emotional and social support and active involvement of significant others according to cultural values and personal preferences.  The practice of nurse-midwifery encourages continuity of care, emphasizes safe, competent clinical management, advocates non-intervention in normal processes, and promotes health education for women throughout the childbearing cycle.
